On Saturday, October 21st, 2017, Lighthouse Immigrant Advocates, the Michigan Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, and Hope College hosted a day-long learning experience geared toward helping advocates, professionals, and community members learn about making West Michigan more welcoming and inclusive to immigrants and refugees. With over 100 participants, we explored the challenges immigrants and refugees face; learned of resources available to help this vulnerable community; and strategized ways for making West Michigan a more welcoming and inclusive place.
The Summit program began at 9:00 AM and concluded at 4:30 PM after a keynote address, lunch, networking time, and three rounds of break-out sessions with workshops, panels, and presentations.
