We urge Congressman Huizenga and we urge Congress to enact legislation protecting the rights of the many young people who were brought to the United States as children and raised as Americans, and to provide a path to citizenship for all current, former, and future DACA beneficiaries. As President Trump’s September 5 order rescinding DACA demonstrates, DACA recipients cannot build their lives and plan for the future by relying upon easily-rescinded executive orders and vague promises of immigration reform. There is no constitutional or moral justification for punishing these young people for their parents’ violations of immigration laws, especially when that punishment takes the form of a denial of a path to citizenship, and consequently a denial to the rights to liberty and due process upon which America’s laws are based. In the words of President Obama, DACA recipients “are Americans in their hearts, in their minds, in every single way but one: on paper.” Please click HERE to sign this letter calling Congressman Huizenga to act.
